The St. Kitts- Nevis- Anguilla Amateur Radio Society (SKNAARS) is a non-profit organisation that has been providing emergency communication for over thirty (30) years. It’s functioning and activities have been directly supplemented by the membership, even at extreme costs to themselves. Having said this, this faculty of gentlemen respect for this organisation has been the bond that has held it together over the years.
The last few years have been a time of reflection, assessment, rebuilding and renewal for the Amateur Radio Society. SKNAARS desires in the creation of a new and efficient method of providing a higher caliber of national service to society and the people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. This aim is paramount to our current existence.
There have been a few initiatives with an overall objective of improving the federation’s telecommunication capabilities during episodes of disasters and emergencies. A closer view of what we are doing emphasize our move from an archaic method of operation and towards a modernized method of information sharing and nation building. SKNAARS efforts and functioning will highlight our commitment to providing short wave communication to members of the fishing community and members of local emergency assistance agencies. It is also our desire to work in conjunction to the efforts and functioning of the Law Enforcement Community within the state and beyond our borders.
It is therefore our shared desire that this proposal correctly articulates our goals and objectives, but also details the manner in which they can be achieved.
